Travelling by Train
The Borders Railway. Trains leave Edinburgh’s Waverley Station every half hour to Tweedbank, which is just a couple of miles from Gattonside. Contact us if you wish assistance with regards organising a transfer from the train station to Fauhope House.
Travelling by Car
FROM THE NORTH.
Via the A68. On passing through Earlston, two miles further on turn left - signposted Gattonside and Redpath (B6360). **At the bottom of the hill there is a T junction - go right (Galashiels/Gattonside). Enter Gattonside village limits and take the first right onto Monkswood Road - then immediately turn right again as if going back on yourself. Follow treelined driveway uphill until you reach Fauhope House to the right of the driveway.
Via the A7. Head into Galashiels, at 3rd mini roundabout (past the railway station interchange on right), take first exit left uphill. Follow this road out of Galashiels, past Dalgliesh’s garage, until there is a left turn onto the B6360 signposted Gattonside (just before a bridge with traffic lights). ***Go through Gattonside and just before the end of the village turn left onto Monkswood Road, then immediately turn right into a small private road. Follow treelined driveway uphill until you reach Fauhope House to the right of the driveway.
FROM THE SOUTH.
Via the A68. Bypass Newtown St Boswells and go straight over the next roundabout heading for Earlston. Over the Leaderfoot bridge turn right - signposted Gattonside and Redpath (B6360). Follow directions from above marked **.
Via the A7. Head towards Galashiels. At the Kingsknowes Roundabout go right towards Melrose. Straight on at next roundabout, and at the following roundabout take the second exit to Melrose. Get in the left lane and take the next left to Gattonside. Cross small bridge with the traffic lights and turn first right to Gattonside. Follow directions from above marked ***.
